Quick Update – My New Aquarium

It’s Fishy in here!

Recently got myself a 1.5ft tank. I’ve always loved pet fish since I was young. And what better time to have, than when I now have my own place?

I now have 32 total fish in there with 14 types of different fish. That’s a lot! But I just can’t get enough from watching them swimming all around especially the small ones always hovering near the surface (no, they are not suffocating. It’s just the way they are).

These are just brief update on the fish that I have so far. May take some pictures when I do a water change tonight!

1. 1x High Fin Sucker/Plecos

2. 4x Leopard Corydoras

3. 4x Common Goldfish (Eating machine & not to mention, pooing machine!)

4. 1x Tinfoil barb, but mine’s golden white in color

5. 2x Upside Down Catfish

6. 1x German High Fin Ram (Need to find a partner for her)

7. 1x Cherry Barb

8. 1x Breeding Cherry Barb

9. 2x Zebra HighFin Danio

10. 1x Red Crayfish (No, it doesn’t harm the fish, unless provoked!)

For the note, crayfish (freshwater) while lobster (saltwater)

That’s a really large community for a 1.5ft tank! But all fish are healthy and active. Plus they love feeding time! The Congo Tetras even jump up from the surface of water to grab the blood worm from my scalpel. They are also not shy to eat from my fingers!

Christmas Dinner this year

Our Company Christmas Dinner this year will be in Blue Lagoon KTV Lounge, Sutera Harbor. I think this is the first time i’ll be there. There will be some group performances as well as singing competition plus best dressed pop idol for the night. Not that into Pop Idol and so on but I’ll wear a little bit different this time

3 days left and not much discussion on the group performances yet hahaha

Update :

Our group performed a live song on stage with 2 members on the electric guitar & the other on the acoustic drums. Was nice. Even joined the individual pop idol singing competition (just for fun, not intending to win anything as I love singing). The nite went well with some nice food & booze. Of course nothing like a good song to turn on everyone and started crowding the dance floor. Song we chose that got everyone going high – It’s My Life by Bon Jovi.. Yee haa

Took all the videos and pictures on that night as well but not sharing them in Facebook as it involved other colleagues. But I have already shared them on our file server as usual so that everyone can watch & see.

Dolphin Tale

This is an average ‘Free Willy’ as you would say it when you see the simple and plain title. But rest assured this movie is far better than Free Willy or even some others as well (if you have done some research, the owner who trained ‘Willy’ in the movie ‘Free Willy’ actually regretted that he had ever done the movie. After which, he is now actively involved in Marine activist). This is not just your simple average Joe movie based on a Dolphin and so on.

The movie has more to it. First of all, it’s real! And it’s based on the real dolphin named ‘Winter’. Some Snippets : Winter, a bottlenose dolphin was rescued of the Florida Coast and brought into Clearwater Marine Aquarium, some sorf of Marine Hospital. Winter’s tail was entangled in the ropes that was attached to a crab trap. Soon after rescued, she lost both her tails as well as 2 vertebrae due to lost of blood circulation to its tail for a long period of time. That did not stop her or even the people who are there for her. Amazingly they made a prosthetic Tail for her and now, She’s able to swim again Winter has also become an inspiration for humans and animals alike in her condition and has contributed to the research of prosthetic industry.

Why ‘Serenity?’

I named this blog after this word as it means a lot for me. I’ve been using this for the past 5 years. Serenity comes from the word ‘Serene’
Serene means
- Unaffected by disturbance; calm and unruffled
- Unclouded; fair
- peaceful or tranquil
- clear or bright (sky)

Thus the word Serenity, describes a place that is peaceful and tranquility.
During my reading, in one of the book I found this. I did not at all search for this purposely but I just happen to read this. I think it was from either ‘A Cup of Comfort’ or Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul’ This is the prayer I found, which I have blogged here before

It’s now being used in the 12 steps programs for Alchoholic (No, I’m not alchoholic). Truth be told, my dad ‘was’ one before though. And though many alchoholic would usually result in misery (the rundown of family due to violence, quarelling etc), I was still in a better situation as when my dad was drunk, he’s always in a good mood, thus I guess that’s why he drank..though that was not always the case

Yeah I drank Guiness Stout Anchor when I haven’t even reached Kindergarten (but hey that was only a little sip, come on.. what we’re you thinking??). Curious got the best of me! As I remembered asking my dad to give me a sip and know how it tasted like! I remembered it was good! Well, at least to a 3 or 4 years old that is

And so yeah, Serenity. Remain calm even when situations get bad or even one that would involve life and death. Can I do that? I doubt it as this place is just a place of my Serenity

Btw, if God so permits, my First Daughter’s name would be Serene.. blush blush hehe
